Introducing AMP’s New VP of Operations: Scott Renner
Atlanta Motorsports Park is thrilled to announce the addition of Scott Renner as our new Vice President of Operations! Scott brings a great wealth of experience and knowledge in the country club industry, and we are proud to welcome his expertise and creative spirit to the AMP team. With his extensive operations background, Scott promises to bring new ideas, fresh perspectives, and innovative solutions to the company.
Scott’s Journey in the Industry
Scott spent most of his childhood in the Atlanta area, though he moved around due to his father’s career in the hotel industry with Marriott. In addition to working in a high position at Marriott, Scott’s father was also involved in several other organizations including, but not limited to, the Olympic Committee, Peach Bowl Committee, and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau. Scott graduated from Lassiter High School in Marietta and continued his education at Auburn University, where he not only studied but was a pitcher for their baseball team, a left handed one at that!
Early Career Successes
After graduating from Auburn, Scott ventured into the golf industry, starting his career as the assistant general manager at the Bobby Jones Golf Course in Atlanta. Scott quickly learned the ropes of the industry, and was promoted to general manager at the age of just 23 years old, making him the youngest general manager in the facility’s history. Following his success at Bobby Jones, he expanded his horizons and went on to cities like Hilton Head and Scottsdale, managing other clubs for a few years before returning to Georgia to run several more clubs in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Broadening Horizons and Returning Home
After managing various clubs, Scott decided to take a break from the golf scene and joined his brother’s business, Leather Cord USA. Serving as COO, Scott broadened his operational experience in a different industry. After a few years, he returned to the golf industry with a fresh perspective, overseeing five different courses in the Atlanta area. His ability to manage and enhance these clubs made him a standout in the field when we began searching for new job candidates.
Personal Life and Family
Scott’s personal life mirrors his successful career. He and his wife, Jill, have celebrated 33 years of marriage and are proud parents to four children: Ashton, Camie, Blake, and Annie, whose ages range from 31 to 17. Camie and Blake followed in their father’s footsteps, both working in the golf industry. The Renners currently reside in Alpharetta and cherish spending quality time together. They share a love for golfing, attending Braves games, and exploring hiking trails across the Southeast.
The Future with Scott at Atlanta Motorsports Park
Scott’s extensive experience in operations and management makes him a valuable addition to our team. His impressive career trajectory, which includes key roles in various industries, showcases his adaptability and leadership skills. As our new Vice President of Operations, Scott brings fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to AMP. We are excited to welcome him and look forward to the positive impact he will make. Be sure to greet Scott when you see him around the facility and get to know the new driving force behind our operations!
