Welcome to the new home of Atlanta Motorsports Park race recaps, Liberty Racing Review. LRR is excited to announce our new partnership with AMP and we look forward to covering all the racing action from this exciting road course in beautiful Dawsonville, Georgia. Let’s get down to all of the swapping paint action.

Steve Newbold here for LRR, covering all your motor-sports needs from beautiful Dawsonville, Georgia. Today we have the AMP Summer Series Round 4. LRR is glad to be a continuous part of the media/broadcast team at AMP. We start this day of octane off with the Spec Miata class.

We go back to last weeks Cinderella-esque story, Blakely Fabiani. Fabiani struggled with his Spec Miata leading up to the round two race and pulled off the podium in his respected division. This week Fabiani was firing on all cylinders and was a hard charger early on within the race. But his competitors Matt White, Mike Pascoe and Steve Tynor did not make it any easier on him. Mid-way through the race Fabiani fell all the way to the back of the field due to an unknown mechanical issue. Fabiani got his caged rattled ever so slightly by two of his opponents but quickly fell back in line and hard charged back to the front of the pack to take home the victory in the spec Miata Division with two laps remaining.

The next division to hit the 16 turn road course was Down-Force! The booth had a surprise special guest commentate for the pre-final event. That special guest was the one and only Stig from Top-Gear, if I understood what race control was relaying he set a new track record in the new Praga R1 (1:07). We reached out for a comment from the Stig himself and he had this to say, “I have driven on some of the best racing tracks in the world and AMP is by far one of my favorites. The track has the perfect blend of rolling hills, challenging corners and perfect weather.” Now this is a historic moment for Atlanta Motorsports Park and the crew involved. The 15 car field is the largest Down-Force field to date and even included the debut of four brand new Praga R1 Race Cars. AMP regular Raiden Nicol led the charge the entire race and capped off the victory. Raiden held off Barry Davidson and last weeks race winner Chris Huhn.

The final division to tear up the track today was the AMP historic’s division. Unfortunately we were unable to complete the 20 minute final due to “liquid sunshine” that seemingly came from nowhere. The division hosted a handful of drivers, Robert Ryles, Ron Scott and Charles Morris finished 1-2-3 in the rain shortened event.
