AMP eSeries Season Three Round Three Review

The AMP eSeries returned to Watkins Glen for the Dawsonville Pool Room 75 and the third round of the season. The famed circuit did not disappoint as Dion Fiallo and Ryan Flannery dueled for the lead for the entirety of the race.

Fiallo started on pole and left Peter Hutchings, who started second, behind as the pace car took to the pits. Flannery inherited second as Hutchings slotted into third before he ran wide and fell further down to seventh.

Flannery stayed within a second of race leader Fiallo during the opening stages of the race as the pair created a gap over the rest of the field. Fiallo made a small mistake on the exit of turn one, allowing Flannery to get within half a second but they held positions.

Further back, Michael Day, Jacob Mink, and Hutchings fought over fourth 15 seconds behind the leaders. On lap 12, a backmarker impeded Fiallo allowing Flannery to draw alongside but not take the lead of the race.

On lap 16 the competition yellow was deployed and the majority of the drivers made their mandatory stops. Hutchings stopped before the competition yellow and inherited the lead. Following the restart, Hutchings made his car wide and kept the quicker drivers of Fiallo and Flannery behind.

Fiallo finally made a run at Hutchings on lap 22 but he overshot turn one and ran wide. Flannery wasted no time and made the move for the lead before they reached the bus stop. Fiallo recovered and passed Hutchings under braking into the bus stop.

Flannery held Fiallo at bay in the remaining laps and crossed the line just two-tenths of a second. Zach Holden ran alone for the majority of the race and finished third followed by Mink, Hutchings, Day, and Green.
